Michael has over two decades of experience as a physical therapist and is known for his ability to listen to patients and provide innovative treatments for complex conditions. Michael earned his physical therapy degree in 1999 from California State University, Long Beach, and completed his doctorate in 2011 from Evidence In Motion (EIM) in Kentucky. Throughout his career, he has pursued advanced, evidence-based training in manual therapy and exercise techniques from experts worldwide.
In 2004, he co-founded Progressive Physical Therapy, which quickly became the go-to destination in Orange County for back and chronic pain care. Recognizing the complex nuances of these conditions, he developed specialized protocols for SI Joint Dysfunction and collaborated with pain management specialists to improve continuity of care, treating over 100 patients annually. His patient-centered approach also led him to expand treatment expertise into headaches, TMJ disorders, and overlooked conditions such as thoracic rib pain.
“In physical therapy, pain is very complex. You have to uncover the root cause, adapt quickly, and have a wide range of treatment options,” Michael says. “Our goal is always to provide some relief right away and then build toward long-term solutions that improve quality of life.”

Michael has also pursued advanced certifications that have shaped his unique expertise:
- 2003: Completed McKenzie training for non-surgical treatment of herniated disc symptoms.
- 2007: Completed the most extensive vestibular training available, enhancing his ability to treat vertigo, dizziness, lightheadedness, and balance issues.
- 2008: Became the first clinician in California certified in LSVT BIG for Parkinson’s disease, combining it with orthopedic and balance training for unmatched treatment programs.
- 2010: Certified in ASTYM, bringing this advanced soft tissue and scar treatment technique to Orange County.

Michael’s clinical expertise spans manual therapy, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports conditioning, strength training, ergonomics and posture instruction, industrial rehabilitation, and vestibular rehabilitation. He also founded Advanced Performance Training, a series of sport-specific programs designed to improve speed, agility, and injury prevention.
Outside the clinic, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is an avid soccer player, skier, mountain biker, and triathlon enthusiast.
